Epicurean Festival: World Gourmet Summit 2018

Calling all gourmets! Savour the finest flavours at World Gourmet Summit (WGS) 2018, an annual gastronomy festival which celebrates fine cuisines, great wines and unique dining experiences. The festival runs from 2 to 29 April at award-winning and much-loved dining establishments in Singapore.

The food and wine festival celebrates its 22nd anniversary this year with a stellar group of masterchefs along with up-and-coming as well as established culinary stars from Asia, Eastern and Central Europe and the US.

This year’s masterchefs include Raymond Blanc, a legend in the French gastronomy world; Kevin Thornton, Ireland’s first chef to receive two Michelin stars; Patrizia di Benedetto, the first and only current female Sicilian chef to be awarded the coveted Michelin star; Ross Lusted, Australia's talented two Chef Hats chef; and Akira Back, Korean-born and US-raised, who has excited the culinary world with his bold interpretations of Asian fare with American influence.

Besides enjoying sensational gastronomic experiences, diners can also expect to gain insights into some of the world’s biggest trending cuisines from Hispanic and Mexican food expert Juan Pablo and foremost authority on Hungarian food and wine Csaba Harmath.

• WGS The Discovery Brunch

8 April, 11am – 3pm, Tamarind Hill, $128+
Food lovers can expect world-class cuisines and beverages at this highly anticipated Sunday brunch, arguably one of the biggest gourmet parties of the year.

• Hommage à Paul Bocuse with Julien Royer
12 April, 7pm – 10pm, Odette, $388+
Join Julien Royer, one of Singapore’s most acclaimed chefs, as he shares his deep knowledge of his native cuisine in a comprehensive French heritage dinner served on his home turf Odette.

• UNGA ("United Nations Gastronomic Assembly") Event
15 April, 4pm – 10pm, CHIJMES, $28+

The cluster of restaurants and bars at CHIJMES are turned into a gourmet marketplace. Foodies can look forward to a delicious and informative experience at the various stalls which are manned by local as well as regional experts who will share information on products on offer.

17 April, 7pm – 11pm, Wooloomooloo Steakhouse, $188+

Explore Polish culinary culture with Artur Moroz, one of Poland’s top chefs, through one of the country’s most ubiquitous staples – geese. Chef Moroz is a supporter of the Slow Food movement and fervently believes in sourcing ingredients from local suppliers and promoting healthy living through his food.

Mexico Fiesta
18 April, 6pm – 10pm, El Mero Mero, $98+
Fans of Mexican food cannot miss out on this evening of vibrant Mexican flavours whipped up by Chef Juan Pablo and his team. Savour yummy bites such as homemade nachos and guacamole, washed down with ice cold margaritas.

Culinary Masterclass & Luncheon at MIELE Feat. Kevin Thornton
19 April, 10am – 2pm, MIELE Gallery, $128+

Join Irish celebrity chef, TV personality and author Kevin Thornton at this masterclass and luncheon that promises to be nothing less than deliciously entertaining. Be prepared to push your taste experience beyond the walls of the restaurant.

A Taste of Ukraine
20 April, Noon – 3pm, Grissini, $128+

Sample delectable Ukrainian delights prepared by young Ukranian traditionalist Chef Yaroslav Artuykh paired with cocktails whipped up by wine and gastronomic adviser Csaba Harmath.

Hungry for Hungary
21 April, 7pm – 10pm, La Brasserie, $88+
Presented by Chef Peter Szabo of Budapest’s highly acclaimed La Parilla, this dinner features robust flavours of Hungarian cuisine. Chef Szabo is known for crafting dishes made with lesser known ingredients as well as his artful plating.
